some people are saying that "100," "Boses," "Concerto" and "Jay" are the films with the most festival buzz. Awards night pala on July 20... Let's wait and see what happens next. :)

"My Fake American Accent" was wrong in many ways. The talented actors had difficulty shining through the technical mishaps. Kudos to the actors for keeping the film afloat.

"Huling Pasada" worked.

Both films have fallen into the Filipino filmmaking pitfall of trying to tell too many tales, but "Huling Pasada" was able to somehow weave it into a compelling tapestry. I might probably snip some superfluous bits though.

I really enjoyed "Jay". It was unexpectedly hilarious because of how it hits you in some parts kasi alam nating nangyayari talaga 'to. I'm watching "100" tonight.

I've seen 5 films in the competition so far and I'd say that Jay is the strongest contender among them. Boses is deeply moving and Huling Pasada is hard to chew but is definitely a good film. I didn't like My Fake America Accent. 100 is poignant but quite melodramatic.

It depends. Some films get released in mainstream cinemas like what happened to "Pisay", "Ang Pagdadalaga Ni Maximo Oliveros", "Endo", et al. But right now, Robinsons Malls' Indie Sine are showing indie films weekly. It wouldn't be impossible if these would be screened there, but I bet it will take time.

Phil, it looks like you really liked "100".

I enjoyed 100 a lot. I also saw Ranchero and Huling Pasada, and they're also pretty good.

The films ought to eventually make it to cinemas. I'd be very surprised if 100 didn't get a wide release.

Namets!, Baby Angelo and Ranchero sounds pretty interesting to me. Kaya lang anlayo ng venue. Plus, the screening times are not very "customer friendly", especially for thse. . . Although I'd really like to watch them. Any chance they'd show these movies on the regular theaters ? I believe they held this fetiva last year at the Galleria Cinemas.
